ABOUT

Naia Conde Alonso (b. 1997, Valls, Spain)

Reviving nostalgia through making has always been the primary source in my jewellery. I create meaningful totemic objects inspired by experience and memory. I discovered immeasurable inspiration whilst uncovering specific childhood memories that forged my personality, particularly the memories influenced by media. Japanese pop culture is often show as a connection with my childhood taste, that is why most of my work is influenced by 'kawaii' culture. Work materials are driven by subject, though metal is always present in my pieces. I have a by-any-means necessary approach to materiality in my work, often exploring new methodologies and techniques to best narrate the story I wish to tell. I develop work by experimenting with different colour palettes depending on my inspiration source. Colours allow me to evoke feelings and thoughts related to childhood.
